The Six Sixteen Best Marvel Comics Cover of All Time

The Six Sixteen Best Marvel Comics Cover of All Time

After this morning’s post on Screenrant’s best Marvel Comics cover of all time, I couldn’t get it out of my head, thinking about what Marvel Comics cover I would pick for this. It’s a little silly and nearly impossible to pick a single best cover, but also, it’s kind of a fun exercise.

Here’s my list of candidates.

As you can see from the gallery above, I decided to lean toward classic covers. The breadth of great comic covers from Marvel is just too vast to consider anything actually approaching an “all time” great cover. So I went with the classic comics that sprang to mind quickly for me. These were my top of mind favorites, so I didn’t over think it.

And the winner is…

Cover for Uncanny X-Men #137 (1980)

I picked Uncanny X-Men #137. It was a tough call, but this one edged out the competition mostly because of its personal significance to me. It’s a great cover, too! The elements are strong: the way Scott and Jean are framed, the scene’s relevance to the story, and then, I personally really love that kitschy Phoenix Must Die! call out. Such a great all-around comics cover.
